M1 Chesterfield: Three lanes closed after crash on motorway near Sheffield

National Highways has reported three lanes out of four have been closed on the motorway’s northbound carriageway, between junctions 28 and 29, the junction many motorists use to access the south of the city.

They described the incident as ‘severe’ and footage from motorway cameras shows queueing traffic in the run up to the site of the collision. Pictures also show emergency services on the scene and a crane.
