Video shows ambulance struggling to get past controversial temporary cycle lane in Sheffield

The video, taken by the passenger in a car, shows the ambulance stopped in traffic with its flashing lights on as cars queue alongside the ‘pop up’ cycle lane.
The cycle lane, which is made up of more than half-a-mile of red and white plastic barriers running in both directions on the A61 dual carriageway, has sparked controversy since it was opened without warning on July 5.

Hide AdMeanwhile the number of cyclists on the route has been ‘disappointing’.
Coun Bob Johnson, cabinet member for transport, said the new cycle lane would be removed by mid-September, or sooner if traffic built up to 85 per cent of pre-lockdown levels.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
