A new bottle shop which stocks craft beers, ales and artisan gins made in Yorkshire is about to open its doors in Sheffield

The shop, called Craft and Berry, will open in February on Ecclesall Road. It will be run by husband and wife duo Gail and Tony Duke.

Gail said: “We wanted to offer a place where people could come and get bottles of craft beer, ale and gins. We will have a focus on Yorkshire-produced products and we think that will make us different.

“We wanted a focus on Yorkshire because Tony is Yorkshire born and bred and he’s very proud of that.”

The couple, who live in Rotherham where Tony grew up, already run mobile bar The Dizzy Mare which is housed in a horsebox and a Pop-Up bar which can be hired for events.

Gail said they were pleased to open a permanent venue, and were happy to have found a home on Ecclesall Road.

She said: “What we realised with our previous businesses, which will carry on running, is we like talking to people and having the shop will enable us to do that regularly.

“We started looking for shops in December 2018, and had considered other areas of Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham, but when we found the shop on Ecclesall Road we felt it fit what we wanted perfectly.

“It’s a very vibrant and lively area with lots of people around, and though there are already craft beer sellers there there’s nobody quite like us.”

When it came to deciding on a name for their new business venture, Gail said it was an easy decision.

“We chose craft because of beer and berry because of the juniper in gins,” she said.

Alongside, the bottles there will be some beers and gins on tap for people to try. There will also be a growler machine, which provides an air tight bottle so people can take their favourite drinks home with them.

Gail said: “People can take away a litre of drink if they want and it will keep fresh for them to enjoy days later.”

The shop will be open from 10am to 7pm, seven days a week, with the official opening being on Saturday, February 1.

Gail said: “We already have a Facebook page set up, where I have been posting to keep people updated with our progress as we refurbish the shop, and we’ve had lots of positive feedback from people on there who are say they look forward to coming in.

“We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome everyone.”

In the future, Gail and Tony hope to be able to offer special events in the shop, such as gin tasting evenings and meet the brewer events.
