Year 5 and 6 pupils at the co-educational independent school in Sheffield celebrated the most important day in the Chinese calendar, the start of the Year of the Rat, with their own Chinese New Year Assembly.

As well as learning some fun facts surrounding the festivities, the children took part in a special quiz which saw the winners receiving lucky Chinese red envelopes from hea dmaster John Hicks.

The teaching was led by t eaching assistant Mingjie Johnson, a native Mandarin speaker who supports Westbourne’s Manadrain and Lorean speaking children.
