A former Broomhill bistro is turning back the clock to its heyday thanks to the vision and enthusiasm of new owners Mick and Paula Caswell.
Vittles, in Glossop Road, is aiming to revive its reputation as a neighbourhood bistro as well as making its mark with a four-course breakfast and an updated café menu.
Mick came up with the idea after being made redundant from his job as an IT manager, with clients including Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.
“Paula and I both love good food. We’ve visited Michelin-starred restaurants and been disappointed, and been amazed by the food at unknown cafés on the back streets of Paris,” he says.
“This, coupled with the service element we both have instilled in us, gave us faith that we could have a good stab at making it a success.”
Vittles is now up and running with fresh décor, new equipment, eager young chefs – and bistro nights every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6pm.
A new home-cooked menu, using quality local produce, has just been launched.
