Acclaimed chef Charlie Curran has revealed details of his new restaurant, Peppercorn – due to open in Sheffield later this month.
Peppercorn, which is taking over from Moran’s in Abbeydale Road South, will give Charlie a first taste of being his own boss.
He arrived in Sheffield in 2007 following 18 months as head chef for Yorkshire celebrity Brian Turner.
After helping to open the boutique Leopold Hotel, he joined forces with partner Kelly Ware, a front-of-house specialist, to establish the Samuel Fox Country Inn at Bradwell. Most recently the couple won honours for the newly-relaunched Beauchief hotel in the Fine Dining category of last year’s Eat Sheffield Awards.
Charlie has a clear concept for Peppercorn – due to open in time for the August bank holiday weekend.
“All the staff are staying on, but I’m aiming to bring in some new ideas,” he says. “I’m big on seasonality and using local produce.
“We’re very excited about it. If we do the little things right, we hope people will enjoy the bigger picture.”
Kelly adds: “We want to make this our own – give it the personal touch.”
