Are you a chef?

I like to think so.

Any cooking tips?

One cup of rice to every two cups of water, works every time.

What’s your favourite dish?

Currently, sea bass with crushed new potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables but as a Yorkshire man it would be rude not to throw in a good home-made meat and tatty pie with mushy peas and Henderson’s relish.

And a drink to go with it?

A fine New Zealand sauvignon blanc with the fish and a few local ales for the pie.

Your favourite restaurant in Sheffield?

For Vietnamese it has to be Saigon 68 on London Road. For something smarter Thyme Cafe.

And pub?

The Lescar, Devonshire Cat, The York, anywhere with a nice atmosphere and a good selection of beers.

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?

A terrible all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet in Center Parcs. The dishes tasted like microwave meals.

And the best?

Tough one - I’d go with slow cooked lamb shoulder, creamed mash. confit Chantenay carrots, red wine and mint jus on a lovely weekend in the Lake District.

Your favourite TV chef?

Jamie Oliver

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

Outside the city centre there seems to be such a good range of independent restaurants. I do think the city centre suffers a little with chains dominating the streets.
