Huge interest in new South Yorkshire housing development

The Yorkshire division of national homebuilder, Bellway opened its doors at its new Stonegarth development in Monk Bretton on Saturday - and due to the huge amount of interest was only able to see potential buyers by appointment only.

Melanie Smith, Bellway Yorkshire’s sales manager, said: “We had close to 400 people pre-registering their interest in Stonegarth and the clamour from them was so great there was no possible way we could have opened to the general public on Saturday morning and given everybody the time and attention they needed.”

The decision certainly paid off, as Bellway’s sales team was fully occupied for the entire weekend, selling three homes and taking declarations of interest on several more.

“It was all extremely positive, and I’m sure it won’t be long before Stonegarth is being tagged Bellway’s latest success story,” added Melanie.

Located on the outskirts of the popular South Yorkshire village, Stonegarth comprises 95 three and four bedroom homes, both detached and semi-detached, being built in a range of different styles, and with prices ranging from £167,995 to £274,995.

Amongst the homes included in the initial release are the Beswick, Shipley, Saltaire, Addingham, Mulberry and Hambleton – all of which are in Bellway’s new range, which is designed to create an attractive and varied street scene.

The village of Monk Bretton is situated north east of Barnsley town centre, and boasts a fascinating 12th Century priory. Its elevated position allows attractive views across Barnsley and the surrounding area, and it benefits from a stunning public park, which covers 8.7 acres. And if that wasn’t enough, all of the region’s major conurbations are within easy reach, and the schools in the village itself are all of an extremely high standard.

Melanie Smith added: “It’s understandable why Stonegarth is already proving so popular – it offers the best of both worlds; tranquil village life and the benefit of having one foot in the main urban areas of Yorkshire.”
