New gaming cafe which is the first of its kind opens in Sheffield city centre
A new video game cafe, the first of its kind, is preparing to welcome gamers.
The gaming cafe called Extra Life Gaming Lounge, which specialises in video games, has opened in the city centre.
Owners Mike and Rachael said: “We have many varieties of gaming consoles, both old and new, that are free to play for all paying customers whilst they dine.
“We are the first cafe of this type in Sheffield.
“We offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and there is no minimum spend or time limit on the playing time of the consoles.
“More popular consoles may, however, be subject to fair use during busy periods, but we have many consoles to keep everyone happy.”
It’s not all just about electronic games either, fans of classic board games will also feel at home.
“We also have table top board games such as Mario Cart Monopoly, but customers are also free to bring their own games should they wish.”
The menu on offer includes a variety of sourdough baguettes, filled with a variety of fillings such as cajun chicken and vegetarian sausage, and topped with melted cheese.
There are also burgers, cold sandwiches, salads and jacket potaoes.
You can find the cafe at 24 Commercial Street, right next to Ponds Forge.
It is open 8am to 7pm, Tuesday to Sunday and also Bank Holiday Mondays.
