We visit the site of the Husker mine disaster and a monument to the Beyer Garret firemen, who worked on Britain’s most powerful steam locomotive. Stop for refreshments at Pot House Hamlet before walking down the former horse drawn wagonway. Lunch at Red Lion pub (bring own sandwiches). Starting point: Silkstone Common Railway Station (platform). Train arrives from Sheffield at 10.16am. On-road parking available at each side of the station. Nearest postcode: S75 4QN. Start: 10.30am.
