ESTATE agency Blundells is making a move back in to the new homes and land market.
The agency, which was acquired by the Countrywide Group in July 2011, moved away from working in the new homes and land market areas in 2008 due to a general downturn throughout the sector.
But the increase of better and more accessible mortgage deals for buyers, combined with improved interest from investors and developers has triggered a resurgence in the market.
To manage the agency’s work in the sector, Blundells will be working with Greg Bayliss - the newly appointed Land and New Homes director for Countrywide in Yorkshire and The North East.
Greg, who has worked in the new homes and land sector for almost 25 years, will act on Blundells’ behalf, seeking new homes and land acquisition sales opportunities throughout the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire regions.
He will also work on behalf of the Group’s other subsidiary agency, Bridgfords, covering the rest of Yorkshire and the North East.
Greg said: “The last few years have been tough for the new homes and land market.
“Buyers haven’t been able to get the mortgages they need and developers just haven’t been in a position to acquire land and build.
“However, over the last six to 12 months things have started to pick up again. Mortgage deals are improving and buying a property is becoming easier, both for first-time-buyers and existing homeowners alike.
“Additionally, investors and developers are being more proactive in looking to purchase land.”
Paul Cocker, director at Blundells, said: “The market is still tough, but thanks to some increased confidence from lenders and developers it is a lot more stable than it was a few years ago and we are seeing substantially more activity.
“We’re looking forward to working with Greg to build up the new homes and land sector across North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.”
