Tuck Box: Closed Shop reopens

Head chef Chris Chilton (pictured below) is promising a menu of British pub classics – with a twist – at the reopened Closed Shop pub, Commonside, Walkley, from next week.

The pub, specialising in craft beers and real ciders, reopens tonight (Thursday) following a £250,000, month-long refurb that includes a new kitchen.

Food, made using fresh, local ingredients, will be available from Tuesday under the supervision of Chris, formerly of the Shoulder of Mutton at Worrall and the award-winning Devonshire Arms, Middle Handley.

Fine Wine online

Food & Fine Wine, a feature of Ecclesall Road for ten years, is switching its focus to online sales. The shop will open only on Fridays and Saturdays from mid-August, but will retain a programme of tastings. Stock is to be cleared in a sale on Saturday and the premises will then close until August 16 for restructuring.

Luke’s pedal power

Broomhill cyclist Luke Milnes has just returned after completing the entire 2,100-mile Tour de France route in a week. But he’ll be back on his bike on Saturday, when he starts a 24-hour static cycling challenge at the Forum café bar in Devonshire Street. His fundraising for the William Wates Memorial Trust finishes with a fundraising dinner at Nonna’s next Tuesday.
