Woman raises £3,500 for charity in memory of her mum with sponsored walk around Sheffield park
A woman who organised a 5K walk to mark the birthday of her late mum, who died of Motor Neurone Disease, has raised more than £3,000 for the MND Association.
Vicky Paeschal, 29, was joined by around 120 walkers in Graves Park on Sunday, August 25, on what would have been Vicky’s mum Annina’s 50th birthday.
She said: “We had a wonderful day – glorious sunshine and about 120 walkers taking part in our tribute Walk to d’feet MND. It was a truly special event and I am tremendously grateful for the support, the kindness and generosity of our amazing supporters and the dedication and incredible spirit of everyone affected by MND.
“Our fantastic walkers have taken more than 1,070,260 steps to d’feet MND as part of Big Steps of Hope and raised more than £3,500 in support of the MND Association.”
Vicky became a volunteer for the MND charity after losing her mum to the disease more than 10 years ago.
She said: “When my mum lost her hard-fought battle with MND in November 2008, our lives changed forever.
“Mum was only 39 when she passed away, leaving behind her six incredibly loved children.
“Fundraising for the MND Association in memory of my wonderful mum has given me the opportunity to support others affected by MND and help to fund vital research into a cure.
“Big Steps of Hope is my way to honour mum on her special day and celebrate her life.
