The victim of a fatal shooting in Sheffield on Sunday has been named by police as 22-year-old Jordan Thomas.

The man, from Waterthorpe, was a passenger in a silver Ford Mondeo when the car was shot at from the passenger side while it was stationary on Derek Dooley Way at the traffic lights, just before the parkway.

He was taken to hospital along with the driver, aged 27, who was seriously injured. Jordan was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem examination last night revealed Jordan had died as a result of gun shot injuries.

South Yorkshire Police believe it may have been a targeted attack and are urging anyone who may have seen the incident, or have any information, to call them on 101, quoting incident number 1090 of December 21.
