A right Royal clean-up in Sheffield

MEMBERS of a Sheffield green group took part in a right Royal clean up.

The volunteers from Sheffield Friends of the Earth made their way along the grass verges of Penistone Road to tidy up litter after the Diamond Jubilee festivities.

The group met at the New Barrack Tavern and worked their way along the road towards Sheffield wearing comedy Royal family masks to entertain passers-by.

A spokeswoman said altogether the group collected 14 bags of litter before putting their feet up and enjoying a meal and a drink in the pub.

n Sheffield Council has pledged to clean up the worst litter spots. Tell us where they are and we will pass on the details. Email richard.marsden@thestar.co.uk.
