TWO staff at John Lewis in Sheffield know how they are going to spend their bonus – on their wedding.
Sue Clark and Matthew Lumb, who met at the store four years ago, are to get married in June, with a honeymoon in the Canary Islands.
Matthew, a section manager in stock management who has been working at John Lewis for 15 years, said: “18% is much more than we were expecting, we’re so pleased!”
Sue, a sales assistant on children’s shoes and nursery, added: “Knowing that the bonuses were coming really took the pressure off while we were planning the wedding. One household with two bonuses like this is amazing – although the biggest bonus John Lewis ever gave me was Matthew himself.”
Janet Holden, aged 51, is planning to spend her bonus on a wedding dress next year at the start of a new chapter in her life. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, she is now in remission.
“I feel like the luckiest woman alive to be marrying Philip,” she said. “We’ve already started looking for a wedding venue. After a few very tough years, this really is going to be the wedding of our dreams.”
