Arctic blast forecast to bring snow and bitterly cold temperatures to South Yorkshire
Arctic air is set to sweep across most of the UK this weekend, bringing with it snow and bitterly cold temperatures.
Temperatures are set to drop away towards the end of this week and by the weekend there will widespread frosts and wintry showers.
Saturday will see northeasterly winds bringing cold air from Scandinavia, and on Sunday bitterly cold winds will be coming from the direction of the North Pole.
The cold blast comes toward the end of what has been one of the mildest winters in recent years, with above average temperatures and plenty of rainfall.
