Armed police called to Sheffield suburb after gun spotted

Armed officers were called to a Sheffield suburb after reports that a man had been seen with a gun.

Police carried out a search of Shay Road, Stocksbridge, on Saturday night and arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of firearm offences.

He was quizzed and later released on bail by police.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with offences under the Firearms Act and theft.

An air weapon was recovered by officers during their search of the area.
