Awareness week focuses on eating disorders and support in South Yorkshire

The South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association is hosting a number of events later this month as part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.

Running from February 22-28, the awareness week is aimed at tackling the stigma surrounding the illness and promoting the support services available.

SYEDA is based in Sheffield but also offers support services in Barnsley and Rotherham.

Across the week SYEDA will be running a number events, including an open day at its Sheffield offices in Bedford Street, Upperthorpe and a fundraising gig at the Nottingham House pub, Broomhill.

The band Huntsman is releasing a charity single ‘You Are Beautiful’ to raise cash for SYEDA.

Chief Executive Officer, Chris Hood, said: “The awareness week events are a great opportunity for SYEDA to reach out to communities and communicate the support services we offer to local people.

“The campaign is timely too, as we are expanding and developing our services more broadly in South Yorkshire and now provide support in Barnsley and Rotherham.”
