Barnsley: All eyes on Kieffer Moore

When you have got a man who is as prolific in League One as Kieffer Moore is in your team, it is little surprise that Barnsley are walking out with a strut in their step.

Moore scored his fourth goal of the week to kick-start Saturday's comeback against Scunthorpe, where the Reds rallied from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Glanford Park.

His header in front of a sold-out away end came four days after opening his account with a hat-trick in the 4-0 rout at Rochdale and defenders around the division will be getting that sinking feeling again.

It was this time 12 months ago that Moore began tearing up League One when on loan at Rotherham '“ form which saw the Reds bring him to Oakwell in January.

With his goals this season, the 26-year-old has scored 17 times in 27 games at this level.

So unsurprisingly, knowing Moore's name is on the teamsheet gives the Reds extra confidence, according to midfielder Cameron McGeehan.

'It's great to have Kieffer, we are really happy that we managed to keep him because there was some interest in him as well,' he said.

'We know what we have got, he ripped up League One last season, scored a lot of goals, and by all accounts did well for us when he joined us.

'If we get him involved in the game as much as we can then that is great for us if he can keep scoring the goals that gets us up the table.'

Even more focus will be on the former Ipswich player following the exit of Tom Bradshaw, who left for Millwall last week.

And boss Daniel Stendel is not scared to understate his importance.

'I think it is very important for us that in this moment, with Tom Bradshaw leaving the club, that all the focus is on Kieffer,' the German said.

'At the moment the team need him. In the second half at Scunthorpe it was the player, Kieffer Moore, that we need and what we want to see in the future.'
