Beer festival and music as village gears up for Le Tour

The village of Bradfield is preparing to welcome the Tour de France in July.

A beer festival, live music and large screen TVs to show the action are being lined up for the weekend of July 5 and 6 when visitors will be able to camp by the side of the route.

Local companies are organising activities to coincide with the world’s top cyclists passing through the village and tackling the steep climb of Kirk Edge Road, between Low and High Bradfield, on the Sunday.

Over the weekend, Bradfield Brewery is holding its first beer festival, while ‘The Steel Stage’ will be located off Kirk Edge Road.

Andrew Elston, owner of Langsett Cycles, said: “We plan to make this a free event, with local bands throughout the weekend, large screens to view the racing live on the day and the day before, along with cycle rides and races throughout the weekend, all fed and watered by the local brewery and farmers’ produce.”

Also involved is FGOWI Ltd, a local event production and promotions company.

Camping: £50 per person.
