Boost to open Grindleford village shop

Residents of Grindleford have been boosted in their campaign to open a community shop.

They would like to take over the former Country Choice premises in the village.

Their hopes remain alive after the Peak Park planning committee rejected an application for it to be turned into a hot food takeaway.

In the meantime, the volunteers are running ‘pop-up’ shops, selling bread, meat, vegetables and household goods, in the grounds of St Helen’s Church on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
