Boxer Herol Graham '˜overwhelmed' by support from Sheffield people during hospital stay
Herol, widely regarded as one of the best boxers never to win a world title, was admitted about a fortnight ago suffering from abdominal pains.
Close friend Andy Brace, who visited Herol in hospital, said: “This transpired to be a burst appendix which became poisonous and has had an affect on the organs. Herol has had surgery in an attempt to remove a blockage from the bowel.

Since news of his illness broke, people from the boxing community and all over Sheffield have been posting messages of support online. Former world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno paid Herol a visit in hospital, and his former trainer Brendan Ingle wished him a speedy recovery.
Andy said: “Herol Graham is in a weak but comfortable condition in The Whittington Hospital in Archway, London.
“He is overwhelmed by the support and messages from fans and the boxing community. He will remain in hospital for the next few weeks to undergo further tests.”
