A BEAUTY product was to blame for a scare at a Royal Mail sorting office in Sheffield following the discovery of a suspicious package.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the depot on Barnsley Road, Lane Top, at 7.30am when a postal worker handling a package became overcome by fumes.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics.
An examination of the package revealed that the product which caused the scare is used to apply acrylic nails.
Residents in nearby homes which back onto the sorting office were evacuated as a precaution but have now been allowed back into their properties.
Firefighters in specialist clothing, including masks, entered the sorting office to examine the package earlier today in a bid to establish where it had come from and where it was destined. Police can confirm that the incident this morning is not suspicious.
