Business Monthly: 200 jobs target at business park

Up to 200 jobs could be created in the next phase of development at the Advanced Manufacturing Park on the outskirts of Sheffield.

Landowner Harworth Estates has been granted permission for three new units set to be built to the firm’s R-evolution’ standard to appeal to advanced manufacturing businesses.

The move is a show of confidence in the fast growing site at Brunel Way, Waverley, Rotherham. No occupiers have been signed up, but a Harworth spokesman said there was “plenty of interest” and they hoped to secure pre-lets’ before construction finished.

Harworth’s R-evolution plans come after two earlier phases of construction, including the sale of an 87,500sq ft development for £7.2m in 2012. Last year, Maher and Nikken Kosakusho Europe bought land for their own units and Harworth built two that were sold to Rotherham Council. One was bought by X-Cel Superturn in 2015 as part of its expansion.

A Harworth spokesman said about 50 acres were still available for employment use at the AMP and a much larger development of up to 300,000 sq ft, called ‘AMPlify’ was being planned.

He added: “A total of £1 billion will have been invested in Waverley once completed.”
