John Lewis this week announced a £1.3m revamp of its Barkers Pool store.
It includes a new and bigger beauty hall on the ground floor, prompting a reshuffle around the building. Haberdashery will move to the second floor, toys to the third floor and gifts and gift food from the third to the ground floor. Work is due to start in August and to be completed in October. The store will remain open during the changes.
Head of branch James Prince said: “Our primary focus is always our customers’ shopping experience and this investment will help to ensure Sheffield shoppers continue to receive the best that John Lewis has to offer. Our long term focus remains to work with the council on the viability and vitality of the city centre.”
The refurbishment comes after the collapse of the proposed Sevenstone retail quarter, which included a new or redeveloped John Lewis. The company says it remains committed to being part of a new retail quarter, although no firm plans have been announced.
