Anchor Magnets pioneers scheme to cut heat loss

SHEFFIELD’S Anchor Magnets has launched a pioneering insulation product to stem heat loss from radiators and reduce domestic heating bills.

Anchor has developed the Warmroom magnetic strip in conjunction with the University of Sheffield, Business Link & Sheffield Hallam University.

The product is attached to the back of radiators in seconds and prevents heat escaping through the wall, reflecting it back into the room instead.

South Yorkshire Housing Association is offering the product to its residents who are testing it throughout the winter and will report back on its benefits.

Warmroom is the latest in a series of dynamic developments for the company which has won the right to use the Made in Sheffield mark, symbolising world-class quality and a proud heritage.

The manufacturer is also the only organisation in Europe with the capability to recycle flexible magnets, potentially saving thousands of tonnes from landfill annually.

Anchor Magnets managing director, Peter Holmes, said: “Warmroom has literally been a hot prospect in the making and has undergone rigorous testing to guarantee its effectiveness. With everyone seeking to reduce their heating bills with the onset of winter, we’re confident the product, which is extremely user friendly, will be a big hit with customers spanning students, pensioners and families.”

Founded in 1984, Anchor Magnets creates forward-thinking products and pioneering processes from its 22,000 sq ft premises in Darnall Road, Sheffield.

It provides bespoke solutions to a range of customers in the retail, design, bathroom, exhibition and visual communication industries in the UK and Europe.
