Everything’s coming up roses at Crystal Peaks shopping mall - which has been awarded two golds in Yorkshire in Bloom.
The shopping centre, which covers 38 acres, won one Gold Award as well as being named Gold Category Winner, and being given the special Judges’ Discretionary Award for conservation and wildlife.
Judges praised the centre for its ‘strong social conscience’ and the role it plays in protecting and enhancing the local environment.
They also highlighted the centre’s commitment to bio-diversity and the development of wildlife friendly planting, its protection of rare plant species and its positive approach to recycling and waste.
“This is a great result for our landscape team and external cleaners, all of whom put so much effort into making the centre and its surroundings look their best,” said centre manager Lee Greenwood.
“Success also reflects the work we carry out in the neighbourhood with projects like support for the clearing of Ochre Dike and commitment to the Crystal Peaks Wildflower Corridor project.”
