Betting firm to create 100 new jobs in Sheffield

A betting firm has today announced plans invest £5 million into creating 100 news jobs in Sheffield.

Sky Betting and Gaming said it will create the jobs at its recently opened Technology Hub at the Electric Works, in the city centre.

The hub will host a large number of the company’s software engineers and designers.

Chief executive Richard Flint said: “With the business performing well we have decided that now is the time to significantly increase our investment in people and facilities.

“This is a vote of confidence not only in our own plans to make betting and gaming better but also in the strength of Sheffield’s economy and technology sector.

“We look forward to becoming a significant part of the Sheffield community.”

Andy Burton, chief technology officer of Sky Betting and Gaming, said the investment will double the size of its workforce in the city.

He added: “This is a great opportunity for talented individuals to create a unique workplace and build new, innovative products as part of the next phase of our growth.”

The new jobs are part of a wider £11 million investment which will also see 100 jobs created in Leeds.
