Business conditions continue to remain extremely tough across the Sheffield City Region, according to a new survey.
Businesses from the manufacturing and services sector in the region took part in the latest British Chambers of Commerce’s (BCC) Quarterly Economic Survey (QES), which looked at the final quarter of 2011 and expectations for growth in the New Year.
Businesses in the Sheffield City Region reported an increase in exports sales and orders, while UK sales and orders remained positive but at a consistent low level. Investment in machinery and training continues at a steady position.
However, both sectors reported that while profitability and turnover was good it had been reduced significantly compared with three months ago.
Cashflow continues to be a major issue for businesses and employment expectations have also been lowered.
