A PUBLIC inquiry into Tesco’s plans for a superstore in south-east Sheffield is due to be held next month.
A Government planning inspector will hear arguments for and against the proposed development off Oxclose Park Road, Halfway at a hearing at the town hall for four days from November 29 – unless the council approves a revised scheme in the meantime. Tesco has altered the layout of the proposed store, car park and a bus route in its attempts to win council support.
Councillors reject the initial application last February mainly on the grounds that the land was required for housing. Widespread objections had been lodged about potential traffic and noise problems and the impact on existing shops.
