Europe’s biggest hand tool company, which has its UK headquarters in Sheffield, has been praised for the quality of its products by an award-winning British automotive design company.
Gordon Murray Design has paid tribute to the ‘excellent quality and design’ of Sheffield-based Facom.
The Surrey-based company chose Facom as its official supplier and used the brand’s tools while working on its award-winning eco car, the T.25.
The T.25 city car made its road debut in the Brighton to London Future Car Challenge last year winning both its classes.
The vehicle weighs just 575kg and offers real consumer benefits including the ability to park at 90 degrees to the curb or up to three cars in one parallel parking space.
Simon Porter, workshop operations manager at Gordon Murray Design, said: “Having recruited some of the most highly qualified and experienced people in the automotive industry to work on the projects at Gordon Murray Design, we wanted to ensure that the workshop facilities and tools were of the highest standard.
Facom is part of Stanley Black and Decker which has its UK headquarters at Sheffield Business Park.
Alison Howard, UK marketing manager for Facom, said: ““Every Facom-designed product is developed through extensive, rigorous field tests to ensure quality, safety and reliability so to hear renowned professional users like Gordon Murray Design rely on our tools is high praise indeed.”
