Sheffield Chamber of Commerce has announced Kickstart Community Programme as its first ever Charity of the Year.
Kickstart, based on High Court in Sheffield, was initiated in 1992 and has continued to grow and evolve into one of the leading treatment agencies for substance misuse in the city.
Sheffield Chamber awarded Kickstart the accolade at The 2011 President’s Dinner, which this year was staged at the Sheffield Cathedral.
Kickstart is commissioned by Sheffield Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) to deliver the only structured day care programme for people affected by substance misuse in Sheffield.
The work of Kickstart not only assists individuals, but it can help change the lives of family members and local communities.
Since 1992 it has supported more than 14,000 people.
In 2010 it helped 93 percent of their overall target number of clients in the first two quarters of the year and was nominated for the Community Impact category at the Sheffield Business Awards 2010.
