SHEFFIELD health executive Mick Rodgers has retired after 42 years in the NHS.

After starting as an accountancy assistant based at the old Lodge Moor Hospital, his career has taken him across South Yorkshire and he steps down as director of finance and deputy chief executive at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, overseeing the management of large and complex budgets.

Mick, aged 62, whose wife, Ann, retired in 2011 after 40 years in the NHS, said: “I’ve got my new gym above my garage and my main plan is to get fit and active again.”
