Former Derby County striker Darren Bent has said he wants to join Steven Gerrard's Rangers, despite being offered a deal by Burtin Albion.

Bent, who was released by the Rams at the end of the season, has been offered a pay-as-you-play deal at the Pirelli Stadium but seems to be weighing up his options before committing to either club.

The big news over the weekend is that Leeds United's Patrick Bamford will be out of action for four months after suffering a knee injury.

Bamford made a big money move from Middlesbrough to Leeds earlier in the summer after a successful spell at the Riverside.

Aston Villa's on-again-off-again deal for John Terry has taken another turn as the veteran defender appears to have rejected a move to Spartak Moscow.

Terry was released at the end of the season as Villa looked to cut their wage bill but could bring him back now they have new owners with deeper pockets.

The three horse race for ex-Crystal Palace man Bakary Sako continues as Villa, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough continue to fight it out for his signature.
