Charity fundraiser planned in memory of fall death student

An inquest has been opened into the death of a young Sheffield student who died after falling through a roof.

Nicholas Maxwell sustained serious injuries in the incident in a disused industrial building on Trinity Street, Shalesmoor, in Sheffield city centre on July 27.

Emergency services were called at about 3.20am. Inside the building they found Nicholas unconscious.

Nicholas, of Dykes Hall Road, Wadsley, died in hospital the following day. The funeral was set to take place this week.

Family and friends of the budding musician are organising a fundraising day in his memory on Sunday, August 24.

A five-a-side football tournament will be held at the Niagara Conference and Leisure Centre in Hillsborough, followed by a music festival at The Horse and Jockey pub on Wadsley Lane.

Proceeds will go towards a permanent memorial.

The inquest was adjourned pending further enquiries. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
