Cheap booze sees clubs shut

CHEAP booze prices have been blamed for the closure of two nightspots in Chesterfield just seven months after they opened.

The Department nightclub and alternative music venue Battery have said they will close after failing to meet targets, despite a £150,000 opening last year.

A statement said the closure was ‘mainly due to other operators offering rock-bottom drinks prices’.

Management said they were ‘bitterly disappointed’ by the closure, which has left 40 part-time workers redundant.
