Choir’s flash performance

Surprised shoppers at Meadowhall were stopped in their tracks by an amateur choir.

More than 100 singers with South Yorkshire-based BeVox staged the ‘flash mob’ on Saturday lunchtime, bursting into a five-minute Tamla Motown medley to a choreographed routine.

In the seconds beforehand, they had been browsing the malls – and some were even dressed in chef’s whites to pretend to be part of a cookery demonstration in the Oasis food court.

Afterwards they dispersed without explanation.

BeVox musical director Tim Allen, who started the amateur choir last year, said: “A number of singers overheard members of the public assuming we were a professional choir filming the next T-Mobile advert! I was so proud.”
