HOSPITAL cleaner Leanora Thomas has retired after 33 years.
“I will miss it,” said Leanora, aged 65, of Sandford Grove Road, Nether Edge. “It is sad thinking I will not see my friends and colleagues every day. And I will miss the patients and their friendly faces.”
She started working at Nether Edge Hospital and, when it closed, moved to the Royal Hallamshire where she was a domestic assistant. “I’ve moved around the hospital, working on all sorts of wards, but in the last few years I’ve been on the H1 ward,” said Leanora, who moved to Sheffield from Jamaica in 1966.
“I’m looking forward to going back to the West Indies on holiday and visiting relatives in America. And I’m just looking forward to having a bit of a break.”
