Deputy PM Nick Clegg visited communities hit by rioting in London, condemning the violence as ‘completely unacceptable’.
More than 100 people were arrested after disturbances spread across north, south and east London.
Mr Clegg, who returned from holiday yesterday morning, met with business owners, police chiefs, councillors and religious leaders in Tottenham.
He said: “We need to start talking together to identify everything that happened so we can rebuild, not just physically but socially. I don’t regard this as a fleeting visit. I think the Government has to engage actively at all levels and on an ongoing basis.”
