AFTER worries about the weather, one of Sheffield’s long-established community festivals turned out to be just fine, said organisers.
The forecast was for torrential rain, but there were only a couple of showers at the Heeley Festival last Saturday, said Maxine Bowler, co-ordinator of the Heeley Entertainment and Activities Team.
After a bit of a slow start, it was a “fantastic” event, she said.
Activities on Heeley Millennium Park were extended this year and after an opening parade included local bands and dancers, food stalls, fairground rides, a falconry display, a climbing wall, drum workshops and cycling and computer lessons.
“People really like the Heeley Festival,” said Maxine. “It just has the feel of a community.
“Everybody I spoke to said they loved it.”
