Countryside protest

COUNTRYSIDE campaigners The Friends of the Peak Park are objecting to plans by Nestlé for a water bottling factory at Waterswallows, near Buxton, describing it as “a brutal looking industrial development”.

Planning officer John King said: “It will be visible from just about everywhere in the area, including the national park.”

The application is due to be decided by High Peak Borough Council on Monday.

Man, 22, knifed

A 22-YEAR-OLD man needed surgery at the Northern General for a knife wound to his abdomen after an attack outside Cutlers bar in Cambridge Street in Sheffield city centre at around 11.30pm on Friday.

Ryan Lee Carr, aged 22, of Crossland Place, Gleadless, Sheffield, has been charged with wounding and possession of cocaine. He was remanded in custody by magistrates until Monday.

City centre sex attack

A STUDENT, aged 22, was subjected to a sex attack as she walked through St Paul’s Place, at the back of the Winter Garden, to a friend’s city centre flat at around 2.30am on Saturday. She managed to flee and raise the alarm. A 32-year-old man from Rugby has been charged with sexual assault.
