British Transport Police has launched an appeal after more than £2,500 of scaffolding was stolen from a yard behind near Sheffield Station.

The incident happened between July 17 and 20 at a yard between platform 1b and Sheaf Street.

PC Mark Mason said: “The contractors left double-deck scaffolding at the yard when they finished work on July 17. When they returned at 9pm on July 20, the scaffolding had gone.

“Unfortunately we have no images of the people responsible, but this amount of scaffolding would not be easy to steal or conceal.

“It is likely the thieves have tried to sell the scaffolding on and I call on anyone who has been approached to buy such scaffolding to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 0800 405050 quoting log PSUB/B12.
