Appeal by mother after murder of her son

THE mother of a Sheffield man stabbed to death on a dancefloor appealed this week for witnesses to contact the police.

Sarah Thompson paid tribute to Joshua Green, aged 27, of Manor Park, who was murdered in the Stars Suite off Queens Road early on January 1.

“No-one deserves to die in this way, so if anyone has any information please, I ask of you, speak with the police whether in confidence or as a witness and help us get justice for Josh,” she said.

Mrs Thompson described her son as “a wonderful dad” to his two children.

She added: “Josh was a good brother and a kind son, everyone loved him, he had such a happy personality, always laughing and joking. I miss his smiling face.

“During this last year, Josh seemed to settle down and mature, he had decided to apply to university to study IT and do something with his life, for his children.

“Josh has now lost his life. It was taken from him in a cruel way whilst he was out enjoying himself and celebrating.”

Det Supt Andy Thompson said: “The investigation team has spoken to numerous people but we’re still aware that many others have not come forward.”

A number of people have been arrested and released on bail.
