Arrests in M1 blitz

A TWO-week police cross-border operation to catch criminals on and around the M1 in the region resulted in a total of 69 arrests – 41 of which were in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police launched Operation Deny with forces from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to target robbers, including those who break into homes to steal keys to vehicles.

They concentrated on the M1 between junctions 36 and 24 and the main roads that intersect it, working with Government and other agencies.

They recovered 44 vehicles and four caravans.
