Attacker broke victim’s jaw

JAIL could be looming for a man following a street attack that left his victim with a double fracture to the jaw.

Chesterfield Magistrates watched CCTV footage of the unprovoked, late-night assault outside a town centre kebab shop.

Victim Brett Green told police he was suddenly struck in the face by a stranger. Video evidence showed him being floored by Christopher Hancock, who then punched him eight times as he lay on the ground.

Mr Green, who accepted he was drunk that night, went to hospital and had metal plates temporarily inserted in his lower jaw. Hancock, aged 22, of Hunloke Avenue, Boythorpe, admitted GBH. The case was committed for sentence at Derby Crown Court and he was warned custody was a possibility.
