Police are investigating two distraction burglaries in Sheffield.

A man stole jewellery from an elderly couple in Netherthorpe after he said he needed to check the boiler.

Around half an hour later, police were contacted by an elderly woman in Crosspool who had her purse stolen while she made a cup of tea for a bogus water engineer.

In both cases, the suspect was white aged around 35, and wearing a hard hat and workman-style clothing.
