Detectives investigating a attack on man on wasteland in Sheffield have made two arrests.

They quizzed two men after a 25-year-old was found with a head injury on grassland between Wybourn House Road and Maltravers Place, Wybourn, on Saturday night.

He is believed to have been attacked by three men but South Yorkshire Police said the motive for the violence meted out is unknown.

The injured man was rushed to hospital for treatment, detained over the weekend and remains there today.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers are currently investigating alleged assault after 25-year-old was found with a head injury in the Wybourn area of the city.

“The injured man was found at around 8.15pm, on grassland, between Wybourn House Road and Maltravers Place.

“He was conveyed to hospital, where he remains today.

“It’s believed the man had been assaulted by three males, however at this time the motive for the attack remains unclear.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, they are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.”
