A woman has appeared in court in Sheffield charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of a Sheffield dad.

Emma Egan, aged 26, from Blackpool, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving over the prescribed limit, failing to stop, and failing to report an accident.

Married dad-of-two Eric Codling, aged 55, of Millhouses, died after being knocked off his bike on Whirlowdale Road, Whirlow, in November.

Eric’s wife of 15 years, Karen, and their two young daughters, Grace and Eve, were at home at the time of the tragedy.

No plea was entered and Egan was granted bail at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.

The case was adjourned.

Egan will appear at Sheffield Crown Court later this month.
