FIVE men were arrested and quizzed by police following reports that a group were deliberately walking out in front of cars on the A57, on the edge of Sheffield close to the Derbyshire border.
A number of motorists rang police between 10pm on Tuesday and 12.20am on Wednesday last week to report a group of men in the carriageway on the approach to the Snake Pass.
One man said that one person in the group had punched his Mazda as he drove past, causing damage. Another man claimed that when he pulled over to avoid hitting the group, one of the men opened the car door and hit him on the head. And a third said that he was flagged down by a group but when he stopped they allegedly kicked his car.
The suspects were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault. Derbyshire Police are investigating.
